LAMBS !!!

I have lambs!!! This morning Waffle decided she would have her lambs and in cold temperatures too. She gave me two healthy twin lambs, a ewe and ram. Thankfully, they survived it as we had -7 degrees here.

Meet the new twins:

I was able to capture this beautiful photo of Johnny the poddy calf watching over the lambs before removing them, so that he wouldn’t accidentally hurt them.

Photos/Poddy lamb

It’s time to share some photos of my ewes before they lamb. Lambing shouldn’t be far off now with the ewes looking really round and heavy!!! I’m guessing that there could be a few sets of twins too!

And meet my new poddy merino lamb- honey! She was found in a paddock all by herself at birth with no other sheep around her while people were hunting. My friend, who feed her and kept her alive for the first few weeks, gave her to me when she was around five weeks old. She follows me everywhere I go and spends her whole time in the backyard because she doesn’t like being out in the paddock with the other sheep! Everyone thinks she is spoilt, but I think she deserves all the attention and affection!

Sheep

Shearing is done

Shearing is done for another year. The fleeces from the black sheep were beautiful and very heavy. The sheep penned ready for the shearer.

Sheep and Lamb update

After all this wet and rainy weather it’s been nice to get a few sunny days. It has really helped the pastures, they are looking nice and green. The sheep and lambs are doing well too, we will be shearing in a few days (hopefully this coming Friday, if the weather stays nice) so it will be interesting to see how they look with their wool off.

I have also started some of the lambs on the halters, they are doing good. They will like it once they get used to it!

Lamb Photos

Lambing has finished, well actually I think one of the young ewes may be in lamb and due later on, but I am not sure. I’ll have to wait and see. A few weeks ago the last two ewes lambed, Chocolate had a little ewe and one of my Corriedale ewes had twin ewe lambs, but unfortunately a fox got one.

The lambs are growing and looking good, we will be shearing in a few months so we will see how they look then when their wool is off. I have uploaded some recent photos.
